The BTech Food Post-Harvest Technology programme is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to minimize post-harvest losses and maximize the value of agricultural produce in Ghana and beyond. The program covers a broad spectrum of topics, including food science, food engineering, preservation techniques, packaging, quality control, and supply chain management. Students will learn about the biological, chemical, and physical changes that occur in food after harvest and how to apply appropriate technologies to extend shelf life, maintain nutritional value, and ensure food safety. Emphasis is placed on practical application, with laboratory work, field visits, and industry attachments providing hands-on experience. The programme also considers the economic and social aspects of post-harvest technology, promoting sustainable and efficient practices that benefit farmers, processors, and consumers.
